R_Garcia’s Resurgens in the Press

R_Garcia’s latest release, Resurgens has been making some waves lately…

1.) The opening Track, “Seawater” was played on the Hipster Please Podcast.

2.) Latest Disgrace had this to say: “Garcia’s latest opus remains a highly personal work, it’s also a playful record that is unafraid to experiment with different sounds and musical approaches. Bits and pieces of rock, pop, electronica, ambient, IDM, punk and more turn up throughout an album that is almost ferociously positive and upbeat. It’s a record that’s delightfully catchy, but also one that defies easy categorization.”  You can read the full text Here.

3.) WREK 91.1 FM in Atlanta played the entirety of Resurgens, Cover to cover!

4.) Resurgens is now on iTunes — and is the first of our releases to hit the majors under our new distribution deal with CDBaby.

5.) Sock Monkey Sound said this:  Resurgens traverses many different styles, which results in a record consistent in quality of production, but not necessarily in genre or style. This is actually a strength of the record; as it feels constantly inspired and surprising.”  Read the full text here.

6.) O Ritmo Dos Tempos (Brazil) ran this spotlight.

7. Igloo Magazine had this to say:  “Randy Garcia is a master craftsman, involved with and exceeding at every level of his work, and brings a winsome attitude to his music that makes it irresistible.” Read the Full text here.

8. Atlanta Music Guide posted this stellar review.

We Be Droppin’ New Sh*t Like Every Single Day

Well… Not totally new, but we’ve finally found a minute to pay some attention to the reclusive sounds of our back catalog. This week we posted four estranged releases to our digital store — and in the coming weeks, we will be bringing almost our entire catalog from 1999-2009 back on-line. Of course, all of this is the precursor to the blitz of releases we are planning for 2012!

NEW TO THE DIGITAL STORE:

1.) V/A – The Tokeo Remixes

2.) V/A – Nophi Compilation Three

3.) Recompas, R_Garcia & Dry Lungs – Live at WREK

4.) Satellite Grooves – Halos and Ions

A Pair From Our Patron Whip-cracker

In the spirit of going completely for broke, we’ve added TWO more releases to our on-line store. Both of these are from Nophi’s benevolent dictator, Mr. R_Garcia — and both of them are enhanced digital re-releases from the bygone days of low bit netlabels. So, rather than mire you down in the usual fanfare and colorful descriptives, we will step aside ever so slyly and let the music do the talking:

LISTEN TO MUSIC FOR ONE GENERATOR:

LISTEN TO REMOVER:

From the Vault and for the Cause!

Originally released as a limited-run CD in 2006, This compilation was assembled for the purpose of donating to the Animal Charities of America, a nonprofit federation that pre-screens high quality national charities working to protect animals. Upon selling out of the CD, we made a private donation of the proceeds to the organization (with a little extra to boot.) As of now, we are offering the original music and print-quality artwork digitally under the “pay what you want” model starting at just $1.00. All proceeds above and beyond the $1.00 per album minimum will once again be donated to the Animal Charities of America on a per-month basis. For more information on this organization, please visit animalcharitiesofamerica.org

More Vaulty Goodness!

[#tun003] Originally self-released in 2002, The Sigh Rodgers EP made the rounds in the electronic music circles of Orlando and Tampa FL. Though a short-lived band, Sigh Rodgers spawned an excellent spin-off (and favorite here at Nophi): Plusses & Ups.

Not ones to let a good thing die, we have decided to re-issue this EP on behalf of Sigh Rodgers. The music is a pastiche of synths, blips, drums, guitars, noises and just about anything one would expect to find in the sonic toolbox of any self respecting lunatic.

Pay what you want ($1.99 min) for this digital exclusive and enjoy the sweet sounds laptop-rock, circa 2002!
